Tommy Schweiger

Thomas Schweiger was Secretary General of ECOBP, the European Campaign On Biotechnology Patents, a lobby plattform in Brussels representing some 40 NGOs (environmental, development, third world, animal welfare, patients…) from all over Europe during the campaigns surounding the creation of the EU Biotech Patents Directive, also dubbed the "Live Patents Directive". ECOBP tried to prevent the patenting of "life" in the form of cells, plants, animals and parts of the human body, as this was considered unethical, scientifically unjust and a hinderence of access to natural resources. He now works for the Patent Campaign of Greenpeace Germany.
